About
Rev. Marcie D. B. McDonald, a native Oregonian, graduated from Hillsboro High School with honors and later received her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communications degree from the University of Oregon. She was ordained by the Universal Life Church in 2001 and performed her first wedding ceremony in June 2002. She found working with people of diverse faith backgrounds to create unique wedding ceremonies so fulfilling that she left her career as a technical writer and documentation specialist to pursue ministry full time. She returned to school to learn the skills and gain the knowledge for an interfaith approach to ministry. She graduated from Marylhurst University with a Master of Divinity in June 2008.
Rev. McDonald is married to a wonderful and very patient man named Scot and lives in North Portland. They live in a house dominated by four cats and enjoy spending time with their four nieces and two nephews. Both are active in the gaming community and play board games and computer games at conventions and informal gatherings as time allows. They also go to Highland Games during the summer months to celebrate their Scottish heritage.
Rev. McDonald is a volunteer with Signature Hospice and is currently researching a book related to this work. Her other primary charity concerns are the Oregon Food Bank, and the Oregon Humane Society.
Rev. McDonald started out performing wedding services but now has expanded her services to include a full range of ceremonies to better serve the community. She is a member of the Better Business Bureau and works hard to offer services with integrity.
